What is Fascial Stretch Therapy®?

Fascial Stretch Therapy® (FST) is an assisted stretching technique that is performed by a Certified Fascia Stretch Therapist. The stretching takes place on a treatment table with comfortable straps to stabilize the part of the body not being worked on. This technique uses combinations of PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) as well as traction. Pain is never allowed and considered a negative response. Our therapist will combine different techniques from the joint capsules in waves of movements targeting multiple angles to release, relax, and stretch the tissues and fibers.

What is Fascia?

Fascia is one word for our connective tissue system which covers us everywhere from head to toe, skin to bone; and penetrates throughout all of our cells and tissues. There can not be anything more significant than this for your mobility and flexibility. Healthy circulation in your muscles, joints, arteries, veins, brain & spinal cord is largely dependent on optimal flexibility of your fascia. 

What makes FST so unique?

To name a few, it is appropriate for all ages, from children to elderly population, anyone trying to get out of pain, weekend athletes to professional athletes. It has the ability to decompress your joints, where we lose close to 40% of our flexibility. Your fascial system is also a force transmitter. 1. What is FST?

FST is a form of assisted stretching. FST is a one-on-one treatment on a massage table. The client will relax on the table while the therapist moves the client’s full body through ranges of motion they might not be able to access on their own. It is pain free and is very relaxing! FST can noticeably improve flexibility in as little as one session. 

2. Does it hurt?

No, we make sure to stretch you safely, and we are constantly checking in with you to see how everything feels.

 3. Is massage involved?

No, the focus is not on that direct muscles themselves, but the fascia surrounding the muscles. We focus on lengthening and moving your body.

4. Is it relaxing?

Yes! You’ll feel  lighter, limber, and calmer afterwards.

5. Do I just lie there?

Not always, sometimes  you’ll be asked to move your body in certain ways. But, majority of the session you’ll lie there and we do all the stretching for you. 

6. What should I wear?

Any stretchy exercise wear or clothes that allow you to move with ease

7. Is it just for athletes?

No, it’s for everyone. We can’t stress this enough, everyone should work on their stretching!
